1. Who we are

OfflineSMS is a private messaging application that provides chat, group messaging, media sharing, message status, and optional SMS follow-up features.

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, “OfflineSMS,” “we,” “our,” or “us” refers to the operator of the OfflineSMS application.

2. Scope of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the OfflineSMS mobile app, related backend services, authentication services, push notification services, and any related web pages that link to this policy.

This policy does not apply to third-party websites, mobile apps, or services that are not controlled by us, even if they are linked from the app.

3. Information we collect

Depending on how you use OfflineSMS, we may collect or process the following categories of information:

Account information Phone number, country code, profile name, profile photo, account identifiers. To create and manage your account, verify your number, and help contacts identify you.
Authentication information Verification status, authentication tokens, login sessions. To secure your account and prevent unauthorized access.
Contacts information Contact names and phone numbers, when you grant contact permission. To help you find people you know, start conversations, and support group messaging. We do not sell your contacts.
Messages and communication data Messages, media, reactions, replies, delivery status, read status, timestamps, sender and recipient identifiers. To deliver messages, sync conversations, provide delivery/read indicators, support offline drafts, and maintain chat history.
Media and files Images, files, voice/audio attachments, and related metadata when you choose to send or upload them. To send, receive, store, and display media inside conversations.
Device and app information Device model, operating system version, app version, language, time zone, device identifiers where permitted, push notification token. To operate the service, send notifications, troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and protect against abuse.
Usage and diagnostics App activity, feature usage, crash logs, performance logs, error logs. To monitor reliability, fix bugs, improve features, and keep the app secure.
SMS follow-up data Recipient phone numbers, SMS text, SMS delivery status, point balance records, transaction or audit records related to SMS sending. To provide optional SMS follow-up, calculate cost, reserve or deduct points, and show delivery status.

4. App permissions

OfflineSMS may request permissions only when needed for app features:

  • Contacts: To help you find contacts and choose recipients for chats, groups, or SMS follow-up.
  • Camera and photos/media: To let you capture, upload, and send images or media.
  • Microphone: To record and send voice messages, if enabled in the app.
  • Notifications: To alert you about messages, calls, delivery updates, and other important app events.
  • Storage or file access: To select, upload, save, or display media and files, depending on your device version.
  • SMS-related access: If an SMS feature is enabled on your device or account, the app may process SMS-related data only to perform the action you request.

You can manage app permissions from your device settings. Some features may not work correctly if required permissions are disabled.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create, verify, and maintain your account.
  • Provide one-to-one chats, group chats, reactions, replies, media sharing, and message status.
  • Sync offline drafts, queued messages, and message updates when connectivity returns.
  • Send push notifications and service alerts.
  • Provide optional SMS follow-up features using OfflineSMS Points.
  • Protect users, prevent spam, detect abuse, and maintain service security.
  • Analyze crashes, performance, and reliability.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies.

6. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share or disclose information in the following limited cases:

  • With other users: Your profile name, profile photo, phone number, messages, media, reactions, status, and message metadata may be visible to people you communicate with.
  • With service providers: We may use trusted service providers for hosting, authentication, push notifications, storage, analytics, diagnostics, and messaging infrastructure.
  • For SMS delivery: If you use SMS follow-up, recipient phone numbers, message text, and delivery metadata may be processed by SMS relay infrastructure, carriers, or authorized delivery providers as necessary to send the SMS.
  • For legal and safety reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, security investigation, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, OfflineSMS, or others.
  • Business transfers: If OfflineSMS is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

7. SMS and OfflineSMS Points

OfflineSMS may offer optional SMS follow-up features that allow eligible users to send SMS reminders or messages to selected recipients using OfflineSMS Points.

When you choose to use this feature, we process the recipient list, phone numbers, message text, delivery status, points cost, balance, and transaction records to provide the service, prevent abuse, and keep an accurate record of point usage.

You are responsible for ensuring that recipients may lawfully be contacted by SMS and that your message content complies with applicable laws and our policies.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. These measures may include access controls, secure authentication, encrypted transport, restricted administrative access, monitoring, and audit logs.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect user information and improve our safeguards over time.

9. Data retention

We retain information for as long as needed to provide OfflineSMS, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce our agreements.

Some information may be retained for a longer period where required for security, audit, backup, legal, accounting, or operational reasons. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it where reasonably possible.

10. Your choices and controls

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to:

  • Access, update, or correct your account information.
  • Delete your account or request deletion of certain information.
  • Control app permissions from your device settings.
  • Opt out of non-essential notifications.
  • Ask questions or submit privacy requests using the contact details below.

If you delete your account, we will take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize information associated with your account, except where retention is required for legal, security, fraud prevention, audit, or legitimate operational purposes.

11. Children

OfflineSMS is not intended for children under the age required by applicable law to use online communication services without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without appropriate consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us without proper consent, please contact us.

12. International processing

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your country of residence. Data protection laws may differ from country to country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international processing and transfers.

13. Third-party services

OfflineSMS may use third-party services for authentication, cloud hosting, storage, push notifications, analytics, diagnostics, payment or points-related processing, and SMS delivery. These services may process information according to their own privacy policies and contractual commitments.

Examples may include Google services such as Firebase Authentication, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Firebase/Google Cloud infrastructure, Google Play services, and app store services, depending on the app configuration.

14. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you through the app, store listing, website, or other appropriate means. The “Effective date” at the top shows when this policy was last updated.
